Rize from the perspective of convention tourism: Review and evaluation

Abstract

Rize is a city in the Black Sea region and has an important tourism potential with its natural beauties and history. It is thought that convention tourism can offer an effective solution to further increase this potential and to maintain tourism activities consistently throughout the year. This study aims to increase the attractiveness of the destination by evaluating the potential of Rize in the field of Convention tourism. In the first stage, the current situation of Rize was examined in detail by content analysis method, and based on the data obtained, city-specific deficiencies and improvement areas were identified. This research is a guide that aims to reveal Rize's potential for growth and development in the field of Convention tourism.

Author Biographies

Melis Angın, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University

Master's student with thesis. In 2014, she graduated from Adnan Menderes University Travel Management and Tourism Guidance Department. In 2023, she started her master's degree with thesis in Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University Tourism Management Department and is still continuing. Since 2015, she has been working as a permanent accommodation and travel services teacher in the Ministry of National Education. She is also a professional tourist guide.

 

Eren Erkılıç, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University

Associate Professor Doctor. He completed his doctorate in Tourism Management at Atatürk University and his master's degree at Afyon Kocatepe University. In 2012, he started his academic life as a lecturer at Ardeşen Vocational School at Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University. As of 2023, he has been working as an Associate Professor at Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University Ardeşen Tourism Faculty.

His research interests are; human resources management in tourism enterprises, organizational behavior, social media, alternative tourism and local people. She is a referee in national and international journals.
